About this site

Taranis

Taranis is the work of an anonymous trans person, currently living in Ireland. Under normal circumstances, anonymity isn't something I'd ever wish for, but given the current political climate it makes sense to work under a pseudonym.

Some of my posts are political. I make no apologies for this. I will always advocate for myself and my fellow trans and nonbinary people, and will do so without hesitiation. Whilst I don't explicitly set out to offend anyone, if you do happen to feel called out or uncomfortable as a consequence of what I have to say – good. It's entirely deliberate.

I am a strong advocate of Karl Popper's paradox of tolerance, which in his book The Open Society and its Enemies he makes it clear that, in order for a tolerant society to survive, intolerance must not be tolerated. You will not find both-sidesism here. I am not a pick-me, or anyone's willing target.

Where does the name come from?

According to Wikipedia:

Taranis (sometimes Taranus or Tanarus) is a Celtic thunder god attested in literary and epigraphic sources.
